Memorial Tree and Bench Program

Honor a loved one, family member or a friend by participating in the Community Park District Tree and Bench Memorial Program.

Honoree's name and special message will be engraved on an elegant , durable cast bronze plaque with an attractive beveled border and placed by a newly planted tree or a bench in a Community Park District park.

Types of Dedications available:

Tree – $900 (includes 4"x 9" plaque) Bench – $1,400 (includes 8"x3" plaque)

Tree Dedication Ceremonies – will be scheduled for either the spring or early fall months (April, May, September & October). Tree selections and available locations may vary year to year and support the park district’s tree diversification program.

Tree species availability varies seasonally. Commonly available trees include Large shade trees like Swamp White Oak (Native), Hybrid Elms, American Linden (Native), Hackberry (Native), Tulip Tree (Native), and both Autumn Blaze and Sugar Maple (Native). Smaller flowering trees including Crab apples, Redbuds (Native) and Japanese Lilac trees, and conifers like White Pine (Native) and Limber Pine are also commonly available. We are happy to check any species if someone has a specific tree or additional species in mind.

Currently Yena, Beach Oak, Robinhood and our new park property at 1150 Meadowcrest (Village Church Property) have room for additional trees. Our Arborist will select planting sites based on your park preference and the available space at that park.

Tree orders must be placed by September 1 for Fall Planting and April 1 for Spring planting. Some tree species may require Spring planting for tree health.

Bench Dedication Ceremonies – will be scheduled throughout the year, weather permitting. There is a minimum 60-day turnaround, pending weather conditions for all dedications.
