Shake Up Some Magic!

A celebration of holidays around the world!

This new installation is a collaborative project between the Community Park District of La Grange Park and the La Grange Park Library. Located on the upper path near the Memorial Park Amphitheatre, families are invited to get outside and read together! Memorial Park is located at 132 Oak Avenue, La Grange Park.

How to Experience the Story Shake Up Some Magic is a celebration of holidays around the world occurring between the months of October and March. It is designed to educate and entertain, while simultaneously exploring the diversity and shared experiences of our world's many cultures. These holidays are introduced through the concept of a magical snow globe. As you read the story, there will be interactive and imaginative moments for you to act out. So harness your creativity, get a little silly, and shake, shake, shake!

Written By: Christina McPhail Christina is the program coordinator at the La Grange Park Library and has been writing for as long as she can remember. After teaching in Spain, she realized how much she wanted to be surrounded by books. So what better place to work than a library? Now she spends her days helping patrons, planning programs, and of course, writing.

Illustrated by: Janet Tencza Janet is the Marketing Coordinator at the La Grange Park Library. After obtaining a B.A. in Marketing, she discovered she had a passion for graphic design and pursued a second degree. She enjoys using her creativity every day in her work, and also in her spare time for family and friends. Her favorite part about working at the La Grange Park Library is designing for another of her passions, education.

About the Project StoryWalk is a fun, educational activity that combines the pleasures of reading with the joys and benefits of walking outdoors. StoryWalk places the pages of a children's story along a walking path to encourage community members to get outside and read together. The StoryWalk Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library. StoryWalk is a registered service mark owned by Ms. Ferguson.
